HAD sensor technology
The HDW-750P uses Power HAD sensor technology incorporating the latest FIT sensor and on-chip lens structure. Three 2/3-inch FIT CCDs each with 2.2 million-pixels provide excellent imaging quality, and are based upon the 1920 x 1080 CIF (Common Interchange Format).
Choice of Progressive or Interlace recording
Either 50 interlace or 25 Progressive (PsF) mode can be selected, for "TV look" (interlace) or "Film look" (progressive) pictures.
Advanced Digital Signal Processing
ADSP technology with 10 bit A/D conversion ensures excellent tonal reproduction, and keeps power consumption down to 34 Watts to guarantee long battery life.
Ultimate sensitivity
The HDW-750P has a sensitivity of f10 at 2000 Lux. When fitted with an optional HKDW-705 Slow Shutter board, the camcorder can slow its shutter speed to a 64 frame period. This dramatically increases sensitivity and allows pictures to be shot at a minimum illumination of 0.003 Lux. This allows camera operators to shoot images in extremely dark environments. The Slow Shutter board also allows motion blur to be used as a creative tool during acquisition.
Even better looking, film-like images with Version 2 software
New Version 2 software for the HDW-750P offers a significant boost in the latitude of the camcorder to give a more film-like dynamic transfer characteristic. This allows far more detail to be seen in the highlight and lowlight areas of the image.
Long record duration onto HDCAM cassettes
The HDW-750P records up to 48 minutes onto a small HDCAM tape. This exceeds the record duration of many standard definition camcorders.
TruEye Processing
TruEye virtually eliminates hue distortion, especially in extreme lighting conditions. TruEye processes videa data in a similar way to the human eye - processing brightness, hue and saturation. This significantly improves the reproduction of natural skin tones.
Multi Matrix
Multi Matrix provides further in-camera creative control and can be used to match colourimetry during multiple camcorder shoots. It is also effective for manipulating the hue and saturation of specific selected colours within a scene. One example would be to adjust the hue and saturation of a flower petal without changing other colours within the picture.
Auto Trace White
Auto Trace White (ATW) is a feature that automatically adjusts the white balance as lighting conditions change. This is ideal when shooting in rapidly changing lighting conditions (for example, when moving from an indoor to an outdoor location). Conventional Auto White Balance is also available.
Turbo Gain
Maximum 42dB gain allows shooting to 0.15 lux. In 25P mode, and with no shutter this equates to an ISO of around 77,000.
Picture Cache recording
It's always annoying to miss a great shot, especially when shooting wildlife footage. With the HDW-750P you have an additional chance to capture the action even if it occurred before you started recording. An optional HKDW-703/1 can be installed into the camcorder to provide picture cache recording. This allows you to capture up to 8 seconds of material immediately before you press the record button.
Time Lapse
The HKDW-703/1 also provides Time Lapse Recording. In MANUAL mode, 1 to 8 frames are recorded each time the REC button is pressed. In AUTO mode, the overall recording time is set (e.g. 10 minutes) along with the playback time on tape (e.g. 10 seconds). Using the picture cache to achieve Time Lapse reduces the mechanical wear to the record mechanism.
Dual optical filter wheel
The HDW-750P is equipped with a single optical filter wheel. You can choose from the following Neutral Density (ND) settings: CLEAR, 1/4ND, 1/16ND and 1/64ND, and the following Colour Correction (CC) settings A:CROSS, B:3200K, C:4300K and D:6300K
HD-SDI output
No adapter is needed to monitor your pictures at the highest quality level or to record externally directly from the camera.
Optional HD to SD down conversion
The HKDW-702/1 Down Converter board offers simultaneous output of either SDI or composite PAL via a dedicated BNC connector, in addition to the HD-SDI output. Furthermore, the 'TEST OUT' facility offers a PAL output with the choice of viewfinder characters inserted.
Slot-in wireless receiver
You can slot a Sony wireless receiver directly into the chassis of the HDW-750P. This adds wireless receiver functionality without compromising the compact ergonomic design of the camcorder. A Sony WRR-855A/B can be used.
Programmable menu system
You can customise the menu system of the camcorder, by copying and pasting menu items to your personal menu page. These settings can be stored on a Memory Stick.
Extended battery life
You can record for up to 135 minutes when using the latest BP-GL95 Info Li-Ion battery. This meets the critical need for a long operating time. The battery also communicates with the camcorder to provide exact remaining capacity.
Memory stick
Allows storage of up to 100 user files and 100 scene files. A user file stores camera operating parameters (e.g. assignable switch parameters). A scene file stores image related parameters (white balance, etc). Five scene files are stored in the camcorder itself. This data file facility also allows easy software upgrades which can be used to store UMID data such as good shot markers and GPS data.
Rugged and ergonomic design
The design of the HDW-750P is based on years of Sony experience in camera design and provides a high level of mobility and balance to minimise fatigue in all shooting conditions. Combined with the viewfinder, battery, cassette and microphone, the total weight is only 5.4 Kg.
