Sony Professional revealed at NAB today significant momentum behind its content management solutions, which are supporting broadcasters from smaller, local operators right through to national news networks. In the past twelve months alone, Sony Professional has implemented its HDXchange network management solution at 25 new customer sites and SONAPS, a high-end, fully managed environment, for seven new customers.
New European customers include Sat1 and N24 in Germany, and TV2 East Jutland in Denmark, which has selected to upgrade its existing Sony NewsBase servers. Sony Professional expects this stellar growth to continue in the next 12 months, since additional features and functionality will be added to deliver further benefits to customers.
HDXchange: affordable, scalable media management
HDXchange was designed and engineered by Sony to simplify collaborative workflows for smaller broadcasters or production companies. Sony Professional announced today HDXchange now includes full support for XDCAM EX and the feature set will extend further in the coming year, to provide support for XDCAM HD422 by July 2009 and other features including:
- IMX 30,40 and 50 support for SD
- Progressive support for all formats inc 24P
- Direct ingest of HDSDI/SDI signals
- Ingest and Management of Audio and Graphics file
- New streamlined bin structuring

SONAPS: streamlining the networked news environment
Sony Professional has also built on its success in providing content management solutions in support of large-scale network production. There are now 14 global implementations of SONAPS, Sony Professional’s fully managed environment for planning, ingest, production and publishing of A/V content. Additionally, over 200 installations of large scale network production worldwide.
