ITV’s new flagship breakfast show Daybreak shot in HD as The London Studios continues to grow its HD studio output
IBC Amsterdam, 12th September 2010 – Following the successful HD upgrade of Studios 1 and 2 last year, TLS today announced that Studio 7 is the latest to receive an HD upgrade from Sony Professional. The award winning studios, based at ITV’s main Southbank site, scaled up its HD production, ready for the launch of its new morning chat show Daybreak, which aired this week.
In just 18 months TLS has migrated over half of its programming from SD to HD . Now, working with Sony Professional, over half of all its studio content produced will be in HD. Technology investments for Studio 7 include six Sony HDC-1500s, MVS-8000G Vision Mixers and Sony’s new 7” OLED viewfinder, alongside a selection of Sony’s LMD and BVM-L Monitors.
Debbie Hills, Managing Director of The London Studios, commented on TLS’s ongoing relationship with Sony: “The HD systems we purchased 18 months ago have been a huge success, allowing us to seamlessly upgrade flagship shows, such as Family Fortunes and QI to HD, whilst giving us the flexibility to retain SD output where required. Sony Professional has worked alongside us in designing a scalable HD studio solution to meet our particular business demands. The Studio 7 upgrade is a mark of our continued growth in HD output and ongoing relationship with Sony.”
Chris Nairn, Sales Manager, Media Direct, Sony Professional UK, added: “The London Studios has raised the bar for the quality of productions and secured its position at the forefront of HD content production. Working closely with TLS for a number of years meant that we were able to design and develop bespoke, future-proof HD studio systems so that they can continue to deliver the highest quality productions for their clients.”
Every year, The London Studios produces nearly two thousand five hundred hours of the highest quality entertainment, sport and factual programming. It works for the ITV network, the BBC, Channel 4, Five and other broadcasters. As well as investing in the flexible HDC-1500 studio cameras, a key component to TLS’s HD Studio solution is the MVS-8000G vision mixer. Sony’s MVS-8000G is a true multi-format switcher, which offers powerful integrated DME capabilities, internal frame store with animation capability, extensive keying possibilities and internal colour correction, making it ideally suited to multi-format programme operations.
Studio 7 is now fully operational, and is home to ITV’s new morning chat show Daybreak, which aired this week.
