Second Edition of the PROduction Awards brings new talent into the light

Sep 10, 2010

“The Sony PROduction Awards is a great opportunity for talented would-be producers to get noticed in such a dynamic creative industry.”

IBC, Amsterdam, 10th September 2010 - Sony Professional is proud to announce that once again it will run its highly successful Sony PROduction Awards competition following the inaugural launch back in February 2010. Sony’s PROduction Awards aim to give aspiring video producers a once in a life-time opportunity to get their talents noticed worldwide. This year’s winners will enjoy a week in Las Vegas during NAB, the international broadcasting fair, in April 2011, as well as earn the recognition and respect from the European video production industry.

Those up for the challenge will have their video judged by thousands of people, including members of the general public and Sony’s experts judging panel. To enter the competition, participants need to go to the PROduction Awards website and submit a short three-minute video on a selected theme which they believe demonstrates the best of their talents. For the first time people will be able to submit videos in 3D as well as 2D, helping entrants to explore a new world of opportunities with their video submissions.

“The Sony PROduction Awards is a great opportunity for talented would-be producers to get noticed in such a dynamic creative industry,” said Bill Drummond, Product Marketing Manager, Sony Professional. “The competition was a huge success in February, with 181 videos submitted and over 25,000 votes counted in less than 3 weeks. At Sony Professional, we’re interested in empowering creatives minds with the latest technology. We’re on the lookout again for people who can create something truly innovative and thought-provoking, regardless of their previous experience.”

Sony has announced that for the first time there will be a separate award aimed specifically at 16-22 year olds. The “Shining Light” award will be given in recognition to the person who is able to show true creativity and enthusiasm through the video they produce. Sony is working with a number of educational institutions across Europe to give students a chance of winning, with help from Sony’s video production experts.
